Institute: You are very well traveled and studied in many different countries studying Art, Technical Production, Fashion Design majoring in Costume and historical design as well as studying the French language – do you feel art is where you heart lies?
Shahla: I definitely did it for the love of art. Art means everything to me it controls my my heart, my brain, soul, body my entire being.
Institute: You are currently based in Southern California, do you think this is where you will continue to live and work?
Shahla: At the moment I am far too busy to move around.
Institute: What do you hope people will take away from your artwork?
Shahla: I have no idea how people interpret my paintings. As a viewer we have to have an open mind “anything is possible” To me, these paintings are not a dream or imagination, I’m sharing my inner thoughts on canvas. My paintings are purely about my inner self. My soul has a certain mysterious power of aid in seek of lightning, it is tempting as well as supported by an unshakable conviction. In reality. I call it “The Awaken Subconscious”.
Institute: What do you consider to be the biggest complement you have ever received?
Shahla: Becoming an Artistic Adviser from one of the 5- greatest ” Blue Star” Museums in the United States. I was also selected as one of the great female artists in a rare and highly recognized book “Women In Arts”
Institute: You are a surrealist painter but do you have another particular favorite art movement?
Shahla: I love art in general, and I respect all art Movements, we need to have them all around, but “Subconscious Surrealist ” is the one. It’s an endless galaxy of thought. All I see are the images recognized and created by human soul.I have an extraordinary capacity for climate and for suggesting through the fusion of greenery as well as blurred elusive images in my soul to transfer them on the canvas – “The Awaken Subconscious”.
Institute: Who is your favorite artist?
Shahla: Hieronymus Bosch, the most daring artist in the “Dark Ages”. I was and still am inspired by his power toward the edge of the abyss he created and permeated the forbidden e exception of the nature, which still can remain in suspension, by reducing the value of all mental reservation, will no doubt inspire the final triumph.
Institute: Do you have any of your own work hanging in your home?
Shahla: No, my studio has only enough walls for couple of large size canvas to work on.
Institute: What do you do to relax?
Shahla: Make myself a drink get comfy and watch a good movie
